Our First Family Vacation!

We had our first family vacation thanks to Treston's generous boss! He arranged for a weekend in Galveston with all of the families interested in joining. Treston, and I were nervous about how traveling, and sleeping would go with Liam. We decided it was too great of an opportunity to pass up, and that it was time for Liam's first trip to the beach. The plan was to head out Friday afternoon, and head back Sunday morning for all of our Father's day plans.

Treston took off Friday so we could get the kid's rooms painted, pack, and make it to the beach house around 4, or 5. Here is what really happened...
 - We slept in (long night with Liam), and had to head back from the Brown's who let us stay since our ac  wasn't working right.
 - Treston was on the phone all morning with the ac guy to see what was wrong with our ac.
 - He prepared Liam's (new) room to be painted since it didn't get done the night before
 - Painted his room
 - Packed way too much stuff
 - Dropped a key off at his mom's house
 - Grabbed jack in the box, and headed out

We finally arrived at 8:45 pm! Liam was so excited, and ran around everywhere squealing. He had to show us the fly-flies (butterflies) on his bedroom wall. We tried to take a family photo, but Liam was more interested in Sprout.

We had to wake up early to drop the guys (Treston, his friend/co-worker Ricki, and his son Ryan) off for their fishing trip. We were up late, and Liam didn't sleep well so we thought he'd stay asleep in the car, but woke up as soon as we got to the door. Liam was so excited to have Ryan in the truck with us, and talked to him the whole ride there.

Liam, and I headed to Wal-mart for a few things, and to grab Mcdonald's for breakfast. When we were checking out Liam was doing his shy boy act to get the attention of the lady behind us. She didn't seem interested, but then told me that he was such a well behaved little boy. It made me really happy, and was the encouragement I needed since I was nervous about taking Liam swimming by myself.

We headed back to the condo to get ready for the pool. Liam was so excited!
Showing of his "Froggy", and swim gear

We had a great time, and he is a very active boy. He kept trying to get away so he could swim by himself so I'm thinking it's time for swim lessons. I also got a compliment from a sweet little girl who told me she liked my "dress." Sorry to disappoint, but that's the only visual I have of my maternity suit. Liam was getting fussy, and it was about time to pick up the guys so we changed, ordered some food to go (everyone there was , and headed back to the pier.

When we got Treston he told us all about the trip. The guy next to him caught the biggest Red Fish he has ever seen, and then Treston got something big on his line. He had to walk all around the boat to reel it in. It was a STINGRAY! For those of you who don't know, I kinda love stingrays. He threw it back, and the rest of the fish caught were catfish.

Liam took a short nap in the truck so we were hoping we would get to rest at the condo when we got back.Treston showered, and I tried to get Liam to cuddle on the couch.  Of course Liam just wanted to go to the "wawa" so we sprayed ourselves down with sunscreen (on the porch), threw on our swimsuits (thank goodness I had a back up suit), and headed to the beach.

Liam sat, and talked to Treston the whole time he was taking a shower.

I absolutely loved watching my boys playing at the beach! Liam kept wanting to go farther out even when the waves were knocking him down. I decided to be brave for him, and got in calf deep (big deal for me). Treston showed Liam how to put the sand in his "buck-e" (bucket), but didn't manage to make a sand castle since the wet sand just got stuck. When we tried to leave the first time  we had a funny family moment...
- Liam handed Treston the bucket, and ran back into the water with the shovel.
- Treston handed me the bucket, and ran after Liam.
- Liam ran back to get the bucket from me, and then played some more.

I love him!

We decided to head back to the pool before it was time to go to dinner. Liam had so much fun with Treston in the pool, and he kept asking for Ryan. We of course saw them come down to the pool as we were getting out so we let Liam swim with Kinley in the baby pool while Allison, and I talked.

We planned on going to  Shrimp and Stuff (per Kristen & Brandon's recommendation) so we got rinsed of, and changed at the pool bathroom. FYI, swim diapers hold a lot of sand! We said bye to our friends and headed to the restaurant. About 15 minutes in to the drive we realized Liam was falling asleep so we made a u-turn, and decided to eat at the restaurant on the property. We noticed that Ricki, and his family had just ordered food so we all ate together by the pool. Dinner was a lot of fun, and Liam had a great time entertaining them.

We headed back to the Condo, and set up Liam's super cool tent he got for his 2nd birthday (Thanks Sullivan's!) We watched some Elmo (Thanks Josh), and then headed to bed. Overall we had an amazing time, and I'm looking forward to more family vacations. I was impressed with how well Liam did, and with the amount of fun we had. It was nice to get away, and have the chance to just focus on family and fun! Liam said so many new cute words, and was excited about everything which made us feel like kids again.

Not the flash!

The next day was Father's Day so I'll stop for now, and pick back up on the Father's Day post.
